About Us

The Nicene Creed - The Heart of our Faith

We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all that is, visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord,

Jesus Christ,

the only-begotten Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation

he came down from heaven,

was incarnate from the Holy Spirit

and the Virgin Mary,

and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified

under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again

in accordance with the Scriptures;

he ascended into heaven

and is seated at

the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father,

who with the Father and the Son

is worshiped and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Theological Statements

  • We believe in one God who is the Holy Trinity: God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is Three Divine Persons subsisting in one Divine Essence. (Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 18; 10:30; Acts 5:3-4).
  • We believe that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. He is the Jewish Messiah and the only-begotten Son of the Living God, who makes both Jew and Gentile into one human family without distinction. Through Him, all who come to Him by faith, and who repent of their sins, and are baptized in water in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, receive forgiveness of sins through Christ’s death on the Cross and live in newness of life through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.  This new life of faith is to be marked by a joyful obedience to Jesus Christ, to God’s Word, and to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  (Matthew 16:15-16; 28:19-20; Acts 2:28; Ephesians 2:4-14; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 5:22-25).
  • We believe in the charisms, or gifts, of the Holy Spirit by which the members of the Church Body are edified and the witness and work of the Church is actualized. (1 Corinthians 12:1-11).
  • We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their entirety are God’s Word, and is the standard by which we are to order our lives, express our faith, and function as a community (2 Timothy 3:16-17). As Anglicans, we also afford great respect to the Old Testament Scriptures referred to as the "Deuterocanonical Books," or "Second Canon." These books are also known as the "Apocrypha" and are valuable "for example of life and instruction of morals" (Article VI of the 39 Articles of Religion, Book of Common Prayer).
  • We believe that we are to live our lives, to make disciples, and to grow our church in a manner that expresses the loving and longing heart of God for those who are separated from Jesus Christ and His Church (Matthew 9:12-13; Luke 15; 1 Timothy 4:1-5).
  • We are committed to ministry being accomplished in relationships which express the love, intimacy, and unity of God as revealed in the relationship of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  We are committed to holding ourselves accountable before God and to one another.
  • We are committed to worship in Word and Sacrament, through the power of the Holy Spirit. We hold the two sacraments of the Gospel to be ordained by Christ Himself, Baptism and the Supper of the Lord (Holy Communion), and to be administered with unfailing use of Christ’s words of institution and of the elements ordained by Him (bread and wine). In keeping with the historic catholic faith, we also hold to the five sacraments of the Church through which God gives us grace and understanding of life: Confirmation, Confession, Marriage, Holy Orders, and Healing (John 4:23-24; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Acts 17:22-24; Matthew 26:26-28; Matthew 28:19; 2 Peter 2:10; 1 John 1:9; James 5:13-16; Ephesians 5:31-32; Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9).
  • Concerning the Lord's Supper, or Holy Communion, it is the Sacrament that is the heart of our community. We believe in the real presence of Christ in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. By that we mean, when we eat the consecrated Bread and drink the consecrated Wine, we are mystically and sacramentally eating and drinking the the very Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. We practice open Communion which means that any Christian of any age who has been baptized and is living in true faith toward God and in love with his or her neighbor is joyfully welcomed to partake of Christ in the Sacrament of His Body and Blood. To partake of this Holy Sacrament unworthily is to invite upon yourself sickness and even death. (Matthew 26:26; Mark 14:22; Luke 22:19; John 6:53; 1 Corinthians 11:24, 27-30).
  • We believe that we are to be generous with our time, talents, and money as we share with those in need, support of the work of God among us, and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ  (1 John 3:17-18; Ezra 2:68-69; Acts 2:44-47).
  • We believe that nothing of significance happens in God’s Kingdom in the absence of prayer.  Therefore, prayer is a priority for us – inviting God to lead, restore, heal, and transform our lives, our church, our community, and the world (John 14:15-31; Luke 1:1-13).

Our Mission

“To devote ourselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer (Acts 2:42) by following the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that Jesus commanded us as disciples to do.”  (Matthew 28:19-20)
